Stefania Fernandez crowned Miss Universe 2009

18 Years old, Stefania Fernandez from Venezuela, beat out 83 other contestants and was crowned Miss Universe 2009. Ada Aimee De la Cruz from Dominican Republic was first runner-up, followed by Gona Dragusha of Kosovo, Rachael Finch Australia, and Mayra Matos Perez of Puerto Rico.

2008 Miss Universe winner was Dayana Mendoza also from Venezuela.  It is the first time in history that Miss Universe was won consecutively by the same country. Miss China, Wang Jingyao, was named Miss Congeniality and Miss Thailand, Chutima Durongdej, won Miss Photogenic.
